Magazines: Taylor Swift’s wedding to shut down the streets of New York next week

If it happens, the wedding would be held on Independence Day weekend. The United States turns 250 years old on the Fourth of July.

The operation revolving around possibly the biggest celebrity wedding of the year seems massive. A permit application has been submitted to the City of New York to close the streets surrounding Madison Square Garden between July 2nd and 4th. Police patrols have also been notified of the incident.

The speculation is further strengthened by the fact that, according to NYT’s sources, several of the American football players of the Kansas City Chiefs team represented by Kelce have reserved rooms near Times Square for the time being.

Sports arena may seem like an unusual venue for a wedding, but NOW is touting its appeal to the privacy-conscious Swift. Madison Square Garden is heavily monitored and has no windows. The wedding couple could therefore control who is allowed to photograph the event.

Madison Square Garden hosts around 320 events a year, including the home games of the hockey team New York Rangers and the basketball team New York Knicks. In 2015, it was the most popular arena in the United States and the fourth most popular in the world by ticket sales. The arena advertises itself as “the most famous arena in the world”.

American entertainment magazine TMZ:n according to the information, 1,100-1,200 people would attend the wedding held in the arena. The arena has no windows, so the wedding could be celebrated without additional photographers.

Swift ja Kelce have been dating since 2023. The couple got engaged in August 2025.

The couple is undoubtedly one of the most followed in the world. Swift is one of the world’s biggest pop stars and has broken several records during her career. Kelce, on the other hand, is the star player of the Kansas City Chiefs, who has, among other things, won three Super Bowl championships in his career.
