Mr. Trump posted a photo of a $100 bill with a personal signature

US President Donald Trump on July 3 posted on the social network Truth Social an image of a $100 banknote with his signature, but did not comment further. In the photo, Mr. Trump’s signature is above the signature of US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent.

The US Treasury Department has not responded to the question of whether this is a sample of banknotes being printed.

Minister Bessent said in March that the US government planned to print Mr. Trump’s signature on paper money to celebrate the 250th anniversary of our independence, something that has never been done for a sitting president.

“President Trump’s mark in history, as the architect of the golden age of America’s economic renaissance, is undeniable. Printing his signature on US currency is completely worthy,” US Treasurer General Brandon Beach said.

The US Treasury Department said the first $100 bills bearing the signatures of President Trump and Secretary Bessent will be printed in June, followed by lower denominations in the following months.

This is the first time a sitting US president has had his signature on paper money, and it is also the first time the signature of the Governor of the US Treasury has been removed from this country’s currency since 1861, when the US federal government first issued paper money.

Changing the signature on paper money is the latest move to put Mr. Trump’s name on buildings, organizations, government programs, warships and currency. President Trump last month announced the design of the 250th anniversary edition of the passport, featuring a portrait of him behind the Resolute desk in the White House.
