The Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the largest oil refinery in Russia, the Omsk Oil Refinery, 2,500 km from it to Ukraine.

Ukrainian media and, in particular, the Ukraine 24 website report that the Ukrainian Armed Forces attacked the Omsk oil refinery on June 6. As a result of the drone attack, a fire broke out at the enterprise.

The refinery, located 2,500 kilometers from the Ukrainian border, is the largest in Russia. The enterprise belongs to the Gazpromneft company, its capacity is 21 million tons of fuel per year. The enterprise was attacked for the first time since the beginning of the war.

Videos of Ukrainian strikes are also spreading on social networks. The authorities do not officially confirm this information, but the governor of the Omsk region, Vitaly Khotsenko, reported the successful interception of Ukrainian UAVs. “The consequences of the attack are being clarified, please do not approach the wreckage or take pictures,” he wrote.

In recent weeks, due to large-scale air strikes by Ukraine on Russian oil refineries, significant shortages of gasoline and diesel fuel have arisen in the Russian Federation. In Crimea, sales were stopped completely, and long queues appeared in other regions. Price increases have been recorded.

Russian authorities fear that rising discontent caused by the fuel crisis could threaten the stability of Vladimir Putin’s regime. The import of gasoline from other countries has begun.
