Armenia is committed to the further development of relations with Russia and wants to remain a part of the Eurasian Economic Union, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced today in Yekaterinburg, during a meeting with Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
“Today’s meeting is a good opportunity to discuss the entire range of our relations, and after the elections, it is a good opportunity to exchange opinions,” Pashinyan said, adding that both before and after the elections, Armenia is “committed to the further development of relations with Russia, is interested in participating in the Eurasian Economic Union.”
Mishustin, for his part, stated that Moscow hopes that the new Armenian government formed after the elections will ensure the development of relations with Russia “in the spirit of friendship and neighborliness” and will provide “a comfortable environment for Russian investors”.
“It is important that the Armenian government continues to create a comfortable environment for Russian investors and ensure that their rights and legitimate interests are respected,” said the Russian Prime Minister.
Almost a month after the parliamentary elections, until now, the Russian side has not congratulated Nikol Pashinyan. There was no hint about that in the public part of today’s meeting either.
According to Russian sources, Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, head of Rosselkhoznadzor Sergey Dankvert, head of Rosatom Alexey Likhachev, head of Russian Railways Oleg Belozerov, head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova, deputy foreign minister Mikhail Galuzin, as well as Finance, Deputy Ministers of Transport, Economic Development, Energy and Trade.
The Armenian delegation includes Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan, Minister of Economy Gevorg Papoyan, Head of the Food Safety Inspection Authority, Deputy Ministers of Foreign Affairs and Territorial Administration, and the Director of the Metsamor Nuclear Power Plant.
“Interfax” emphasizes that Russia is the first country to which Pashinyan went on a working visit after the June 7 parliamentary elections.
