Not for sale: Senator for Economic Affairs Giffey is giving away her favorite recipes

After work, Berlin’s Senator for Economic Affairs likes to put on her cooking apron. Now Franziska Giffey (SPD) has presented her recently announced cookbook. The booklet contains twelve favorite recipes – one for each month.

“Good food with lovely people makes you happy,” said the 48-year-old. She lets the public participate more often; she repeatedly posts photos on Instagram that show her cooking and baking.

There are no cookbooks to buy

With her little cookbook, Giffey says she is responding to requests from her 50,000 followers. According to the politician, they always asked for the recipes after her culinary posts. The work is not available for purchase: according to Giffey, it was published in a limited edition and is being given away.

Many interested people came to the Leporello bookstore in Rudow, where Giffey’s constituency is located, for the presentation. Her father was also there. Two and a half months before the Berlin election, the SPD woman chatted with moderator Ulli Zelle not only about good food, but also about politics. The guests were also able to see for themselves Giffey’s talent in the kitchen: she handed out home-baked cakes.
