Iran announced the moment it launched a missile toward the US base

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) today released a video of retaliation against US military targets in Kuwait and Bahrain, with images of missiles continuously leaving the launch pad, increasing altitude and then rushing away. One missile had the words “on behalf of the fighters on the economic front” and “Bandar Shahid Rajaei” written in Persian.

Bandar Shahid Rajaei is a port located near the city of Bandar Abbas, southern Iran, considered “one of the lifelines” of the Islamic country’s economy. This was one of the targets previously attacked by the US.

IRGC previously announced that it had raided 85 US military targets at Port Salman and the 5th Fleet base in Bahrain and Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait. Iranian forces also announced that they shot down a Washington MQ-9 drone over Bushehr province.

Ali Al Salem is home to the US 386th Air Expeditionary Wing, described by Washington as “a key airlift center and gateway to deploy combat power for allied and coalition forces in the region”. This base is located in central Kuwait, about 60 km from the border with Iraq. Kuwait has invested between $800 million and $1.5 billion over the years in base defense capabilities.

IRGC described this as an “initial response” in response to the US attack on coastal bases and civilian facilities in Hormozgan province and Mahshahr city, Khuzestan province of Iran.

The Iranian military accused the US of violating the ceasefire in the memorandum the two countries signed in mid-June. This force warned that Tehran would expand the scope of response if Washington continued to violate it. “Every US military base in the area will be a legal target,” the Iranian military said.

The US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM) announced that it had deployed precision-guided weapons to attack more than 80 targets in Iran on the night of July 7, in response to Tehran targeting commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

Targets included air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar stations, anti-ship missile complexes, and more than 60 IRGC speedboats in areas in and near Hormuz.

Many explosions occurred in the port city of Bandar Abbas, Qeshm and Sirik islands. National television station IRIB accusing US forces of “primarily targeting civilian areas”.
