Fabian was like her own child for Gina H.: Psychotherapist says

Rostock (Mecklenburg-Vorpommern) – She loved eight-year-old Fabian “as if he were her own child.” With this sentence, the long-time psychotherapist of the defendant Gina H. made people sit up and take notice in the murder trial of the boy who was killed. The doctor described his patient’s relationship with Fabian to the Rostock regional court and also spoke about her mental illness.

The specialist in psychosomatic medicine and psychotherapy treated the now 30-year-old from 2017 to 2025. He explained in court that Gina H. had a personality disorder with borderline symptoms. However, the illness was comparatively mild. During the entire treatment, he saw no reason for inpatient admission.

Therapist describes borderline disorder

During therapy, the defendant reported to him an “inner emptiness” and a pronounced fear of crowds. According to the therapist, her social anxiety was also a reason why she didn’t work. Borderline disorders are considered personality disorders that are associated, among other things, with strong emotional fluctuations and unstable interpersonal relationships. However, her condition has improved over the years.

Judge doubts social anxiety

Although Gina H. received a disability pension because of her mental illness, according to the presiding judge, she looked after her five horses every day and regularly attended riding tournaments with many people. The witness also explained: “I see a contradiction there.”

Fabian was also a topic again and again in the therapy sessions. Gina H. I felt a lot for the boy, the therapist reported. In his impression, the relationship between the two was loving and caring. The doctor said in court that she loved Fabian “as if he were her own child.”

According to the therapist’s assessment, Gina H. was able to differentiate herself well even in difficult situations. As an example, he cited dealing with the biological father of her own son. There she found a good and confident way to distance herself.

Defendant remains silent

The public prosecutor’s office accuses the 30-year-old of killing the eight-year-old with six knife stabs on October 10, 2025 at a pond near Klein Upahl and then setting the body on fire. By August 2025, Gina H. was in a relationship with Fabian’s father for four years. During this time the boy stayed with her regularly. The defendant has so far remained silent about the allegations.
