In Ireland, a Middle Eastern man beat a pro-Palestinian activist to death

The body of 43-year-old US citizen Jamie Carney, who had lived in Ireland for the past five years, was found in Killarney. She was widely known in the city as a civic activist and advocate for Palestinian rights.

Carney was beaten to death in her own home with life-threatening head injuries. She was found by her own daughter, who called a family friend at 1:20 p.m., who contacted the police. “There is no doubt that this is a murder case,” a police source said.

According to the forensic medical examination, death occurred 13 hours earlier. Neighbors reported hearing a loud argument in the house the previous evening.

According to the Irish Times, the suspect is a Middle Eastern man who was a friend of Carney. Investigators determined that he left Ireland by flying to Turkey. Law enforcement agencies turned to international authorities asking for help.
