Ann Widdecombe, a 28-year-old former pro-Brexit MP arrested for murder

A 28-year-old man, a British citizen, has been arrested in connection with the death of Ann Widdecombeformer Tory MP, then moved to Reform UK. He was arrested in South Yorkshire, the police announced, as reported by the BBC.

Widdecombe, 78, was found dead in her home on Thursday, her body battered with wounds. The man arrested was arrested approximately 430 kilometers from the Widdecombe property.

Elected to the Commons for the first time in 1987, in the midst of Thatcher’s era, Widdecombe remained a Tory MP, oriented towards an ultra-conservative programme, above all, on social issues, until 2010, also holding positions as an undersecretary. After leaving Parliament, she also had some television experience, taking part in reality shows, but with the Brexit referendum she returned to the forefront as one of the most prominent voices for Leave. Between 2019 and 2020 she was an MEP for Farage’s Brexit Party, and was now a member of Reform UK, where she was spokesperson for immigration and justice.
