Netanyahu affirms that he will visit New York during his next trip to the US despite threats from its mayor

The Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu, has stated that he will visit New York during his next trip to the United States despite the threats recently made by the city’s mayor, Zohran Mamdani, who openly contemplated arresting the Israeli president, against whom there is an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court (ICC) despite the fact that his administration does not have the power to execute the order.

“First of all, I’m going to New York… I’m going to tell the truth in front of this elected official who spews hate,” Netanyahu said during an interview with Fox News television when referring to Mamdani’s harsh criticism.

In this sense, he lamented that the mayor is “pitting one group of New Yorkers against others.” “It’s turning them against the Jews of New York. I mean, what are we, in the 1930s? So much hate. So many lies,” he warned.

Netanyahu plans to travel to the United States again in September to attend the UN General Assembly. This was confirmed by Israel’s own ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, who has guaranteed that he will attend the meeting and return to Israel without anyone being able to prevent him.

The Israeli Prime Minister himself already addressed this issue in a previous interview, during which he accused Mamdani of openly defending the crimes of the Islamist movement Hamas during the October 7 attacks by Palestinian militias against Israeli territory.

However, Netanyahu is under an arrest warrant from the ICC for war crimes and crimes against humanity for ordering the Israeli Army’s offensive against the Gaza Strip. The problem is that the United States is not part of the court nor does it recognize the validity of its decisions.
