The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-affiliated Fars agency reported that a Qatari liquefied gas tanker passed through the Strait of Hormuz with Iran’s permission. This happened for the first time in three weeks. The vessel was using an Iranian-provided channel and there were no incidents.
The IRGC command previously said the strait would remain closed as long as the US continued to issue threats and impede regional freedom of navigation, and threatened a “harsh response” to countries assisting the US military effort.
It also said two oil tankers attempted to pass through the strait with US air cover the southern fairway provided by Oman. A fire broke out on one of them, after which they took a reverse course. There is no confirmation of this information.
