Former US President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer has spread and is causing him severe pain, according to his son Hunter. “The cancer has spread, metastasized to his bones and beyond,” Hunter Biden said in an interview published Friday by the BBC. “It’s very painful and, in many ways, very draining.”
A spokesperson for the 83-year-old former president declined to comment on the interview on Saturday. Biden, a Democrat, publicly announced in May 2025—just under four months after leaving the White House—that he was suffering from an aggressive form of prostate cancer that had also attacked his bones. In October, a spokesperson stated that the former president was undergoing radiation and hormone therapy.
Biden’s physical and mental health was a recurring topic of discussion during his presidency from 2021 to 2025. His last public appearance was in June at the dedication of the presidential library in Chicago, founded by his predecessor, Barack Obama. Biden served as Vice President from 2009 to 2017 during Obama’s presidency. His memoirs are scheduled for release on November 17.
