Anti-Israel protests in Greece: In many cities, people did not attend the rallies.

On August 9, March to Gaza Greece, BDS Greece, and the country’s Palestinian community announced anti-Israel marches in Greece. Organizers claimed the events would take place in over 100 locations across the country.

The Israeli Foreign Ministry issued a warning to Israelis and members of the Jewish community in Greece, advising them to avoid rallies and not openly display Israeli and Jewish symbols.

Israelis living in Greece remained unconcerned in conversations with Israeli journalists throughout the day. They mainly noted that Greeks are well-disposed toward Israeli tourists. Furthermore, Greeks are currently in the midst of vacations and school holidays, so it’s unlikely many people will attend the rallies.

The most prominent demonstration took place in Athens: participants gathered in Monastiraki Square and then marched to Syntagma Square.

Hundreds of people took part in the march in Chania, Crete.

In Thessaloniki, according to Israelis, fewer than a dozen people attended the rally. The situation was similar on the islands of Mykonos and Rhodes.

The Greek publication in.gr reports thousands of protesters nationwide, but no official police figures on the protesters’ numbers are available.
