The United States, Armenia and Azerbaijan reaffirm their unwavering support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and jurisdiction of Armenia and Azerbaijan within their internationally recognized borders, said the joint statement of the three countries on the one-year anniversary of the Peace Summit held at the White House, published by the RA Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“The three countries remain committed to the full implementation of the Joint Declaration of August 8, in accordance with its letter and spirit, as well as to the discovery of the region’s exceptional economic potential,” the statement said.
A year ago, Yerevan and Baku signed the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace agreement in the White House. The parties called the document signed in the presence of the US president as historic, and in the following months they announced that peace between the two former enemies was actually established.
The joint statement of the three countries released today by the RA Foreign Ministry states that the United States remains committed to the full implementation of the bilateral charters and memoranda of understanding signed with Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as to the further strengthening of its bilateral relations with the two countries.
“True peace is never built in a day, but as President Trump says, ‘Promises are made, promises are kept.’ The steps taken by Armenia and Azerbaijan in the direction of lasting peace are an example for the whole world, and we expect a bright and prosperous future for the region,” the announcement states.
