An engine failure was discovered after takeoff – and the flight that left Prague with 189 passengers had to turn back
The Smartwings flight that was on its way tonight from Prague to Israel had to return to the airport from which it took off, after a malfunction in one of the plane’s engines was discovered. The incident ended without casualties, and all 189 passengers finally arrived in Israel on a replacement plane.
The incident occurred shortly after the plane took off, when suddenly an unusual noise was heard. After an examination, the decision was made to turn around and return to Prague. Before the landing, emergency and rescue teams were organized at the airport.
Singer Adi Cohen, who was on the plane at the time of the incident, shared a story on her Instagram page about the scary moment: “We made an emergency landing on the way back to Israel from Prague. One of the engines stopped working fifteen minutes after takeoff. It’s one of the scariest moments I’ve experienced. We’re back on the ground, God willing.”
The passengers were not in danger, and the return to Prague was made as a precautionary measure due to the technical fault. The new flight left for Israel around 06:15 in the morning, after a delay of about five hours.
