Lebanese President: “There is no alternative to negotiations with Israel”

Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said that despite the obstacles, negotiations were the best way to achieve national goals, while war would only bring more destruction.

“We decided to start negotiations in order to avoid suffering and tragedy. There is no easy, quick way, there are many obstacles and difficulties, but this is much better than fighting,” the head of state said.

According to Aoun, Lebanon is seeking the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the south of the country, the deployment of the Lebanese army on the border, the return of prisoners and refugees, and the restoration of the country. “It is obvious that this cannot be achieved through military means; there is no alternative to negotiations,” he said.
