The United States attacked IRGC facilities in Iran, Tehran responded with a strike on American bases in Jordan

The US Central Command (CENTCOM) reported that at about 19:00 hours (Israeli time) strikes were launched against Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps targets. The operation was a response to attempts by the IRGC to attack merchant ships in the Strait of Hormuz and American military personnel in the region.

Iranian media reported explosions in several areas in the south and southeast of the country. According to Tasnim, explosions were heard on Qeshm Island, Bandar Abbas, Sirik, Jask and Konarak. Reuters, citing Iranian state media, also reported explosions in Chabahar. Iranian authorities reported the death of two civilians in Konarak, and more than 20 people were injured.

US President Donald Trump said in an interview with Fox News that one of the targets of the attack was radar systems that Iran was restoring after previous attacks. He warned that if Tehran responded, the US would launch a much more powerful strike.

Soon after, Iranian news agencies reported that a retaliatory attack had begun. Tasnim said Iran’s armed forces had launched a “decisive operation” in which US bases and other targets in the region were being hit by missiles and drones.

In Jordan, air raid sirens sounded in the evening in the provinces of Mafraq in the north of the country and Aqaba in the south. Explosions were heard in Eilat. Residents of the Israeli city saw the operation of air defense systems.

Amid a new exchange of attacks, American diplomatic missions across the Middle East have issued warnings to US citizens. Americans were urged to consider the possibility of further escalation, airspace closures and flight cancellations.
