Moldova denounces that a drone violated its airspace during Russia’s “massive attacks” against Ukraine

The Moldovan authorities reported this Thursday that a drone violated their airspace, crossing Moldovan territory for several minutes, during Russia’s “massive attacks” against Ukraine.

“In the midst of the massive attacks launched this morning by the Russian Federation against Ukraine, among others in the Odesa region, an unidentified drone briefly entered the airspace of the Republic of Moldova,” said the Moldovan Ministry of Defense, referring to information from the Air Operations Service.

Thus, he detailed that the drone crossed the border at 8:56 a.m. from Biliaivka, in Ukraine, to Tudora, in Moldova. Just a few minutes later, at 08:58 a.m., “it left national airspace,” added the Ministry of Defense, specifying that it left the town of Palanca towards Lake Davidove Liman, already in Ukrainian territory.

“The Air Operations Service continues to monitor the airspace in coordination with national authorities and its partners to guarantee public safety,” the statement concluded.

Moldova has been the scene of incidents related to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, one of the most serious occurred last week when two people died and three were injured in a Russian attack on a Ukrainian checkpoint on the border with Moldova, causing the temporary closure of the crossing.
