Big plan for Kvarner: Investments of more than 100 million euros are coming to transport and ports

We continue to invest in port infrastructure throughout Croatia, and the Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has a lot of new projects ready, worth more than 100 million euros, which need new financing, said Butković.

Traffic in the river port exceeded 500 thousand TEUs (container units) this year, and the implementation of large port projects was also discussed at the meeting.

County port administrations implement numerous projects that are co-financed from European funds and national funds, and in Primorje-Gorski Kotar County, more than 80 million euros have been allocated for them.

He stated that by the end of the year, i.e. at the beginning of 2027, the Istrian Epsilon will be completely built, and the western part of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County and the interior of Croatia will be connected to Istria by highway. The Matulji bridge is also being completed, which will enable better functioning and a connection to Matulji and Opatija, without new crowds and delays.

Buttocksć said that contracts were signed for two sections of the highway Križišće-Žuta Lokva – Križišće-Jadranovo and Jadranovo-Selce, i.e. Novi Vinodolski. The total value is about 400 million euros, and in the next days, in about 20 days, the start of the works is expected.

Since the revenues of the county road administrations have significantly improved, there was also talk of other possibilities for financing county road infrastructure, such as the Breza in Klana bypass, said the Minister of Transport.

Župan Ivica Lukanović he said that due to good preparation and implementation of projects, the county managed to withdraw more than 80 million euros for the county’s port authorities. Priority projects should be determined for the year 2028, given that the investment projects are larger than 100 million euros, he added.

Lukanović said that one of the biggest financial requests to the Ministry will be the realization of the road project between Viškovo and Kastvo, which will enable a great deal of traffic relief.
