Iran’s justice chief has once again threatened to take action against women who violate the headscarf requirement. At a meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council, the chairman demanded Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejeito pursue the topic as a priority. “They are all concerned about some of these social anomalies,” said the justice chief in Tehran, according to a video from the news agency Libra from Monday.
“This state of nudity is unbearable,” said Mohseni Ejei, referring to women in Iran’s metropolises who defy strict Islamic dress codes. According to him, if necessary, “police, intelligence and judicial measures” should also be taken. Social headwinds should not deter the authorities.
