Iran is preparing to close the routes it considers “illegal” in the Strait of Hormuz

We are talking about several routes passing along the coast of Oman. According to Naghdi, they were created by blasting and damaging rocky sections of the strait and are used by small vessels to illegally transport oil and transfer it to tankers.

“The Strait of Hormuz is closed and the armed forces of Iran completely control it. This situation will be maintained until the fulfillment of Iran’s legal demands,” Naghdi said.

However, Reuters notes that oil exports from the region increased in September. According to Kpler’s preliminary data, as of September 30, the seven-day average was 18.3 million barrels per day, and on September 14, export volumes exceeded the pre-war level.

Iranian officials deny that the passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz is being restored with the support of the US Navy. According to Majid Mirahmadi, another IRGC adviser, an average of 10 ships pass through the strait a day instead of around 125 before the war.
