Syria has denied reports of a possible deployment of troops to assist Saudi Arabia in the fight against the Houthis. Earlier, Syrian and American sources reported this possibility to Reuters.
“Our position remains unchanged: we support Saudi Arabia in confronting threats to its security and stability. At the same time, Syrian policy in the region is based on stability, peace and cooperation, and the opening of new fronts is not in our interests,” reads a statement from official Damascus.
According to Reuters, the possibility of both sending protective equipment to Saudi Arabia and involving military personnel in offensive operations against the Houthis is being considered.
