British Prime Minister accused the IRGC of preparing an attack on an American airbase

British Prime Minister Andy Burnham said the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) was almost certainly behind the attack on the Fairford air base used by the US military. Reuters writes about this.

Speaking in Parliament on October 12, Burnham promised to tighten measures against Iranian networks operating in the UK and introduce additional sanctions aimed at limiting the activities of Tehran and the IRGC.

The British Foreign Office summoned Iran’s ambassador to formally protest over Tehran’s alleged involvement in preparing the attack, the Associated Press reported.

The investigation began following an incident on September 27 near Fairford airbase in Gloucestershire. In total, the police detained seven people. All of them were subsequently released on bail and the investigation continues.

Fairford AFB is used by the US Air Force, including to house strategic bombers involved in operations against Iran.

Tehran denies accusations of involvement in the incident.
