Khamenei: “Enemies are trying to enlist the support of the workers”

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei once again commented on the ongoing opposition protests in the Islamic Republic. He noted that during the two months of unrest, “enemies” failed to overthrow the current regime.

“Praise be to Allah, as long as we manage to prevail. But each new defeat forces the enemy to resort to new tricks. He is trying to enlist the support of the workers, the support of women,” the ayatollah said.

A few days ago, the regime again blamed the unrest on the United States and Israel. “Western and Israeli intelligence agencies are trying to spark a civil war in Iran, but Iran is not Libya or Sudan,” Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said.

According to human rights activists, 402 demonstrators, including 58 minors, and 54 representatives of the regime were killed in two months of opposition demonstrations. Nearly 1,700 people have been detained.
