The current situation related to energy supply and gas supply was discussed in Artsakh

Artsakh’s operative headquarters discussed the current situation related to energy supply and gas supply today, according to the office of the Minister of State.

Due to the intervention of the Azerbaijani side, the failure of the only high-voltage power line feeding Artsakh from Armenia and periodic gas supply cuts, serious problems with electricity supply have arisen, it was noted at the session.

Actual electricity supply is currently carried out at the expense of Artsakh’s limited internal resources, due to which the system is very overloaded, the number of accidents is increasing, the State Minister’s office reports. In this situation, the officials of the sector urge the population to use electricity as sparingly as possible.

On the 43rd day of the blockade, there is no gas again in Artsakh. Stepanakert informed yesterday that Azerbaijanis have blocked the only gas pipeline coming from Armenia. In addition, they have been in power saving mode for two weeks. Citizens do not have electricity for 6 hours a day.

Due to the lack of heating, all schools in Artsakh are closed, around 20,000 children are deprived of the right to education. State institutions also work with restrictions.

According to official data, due to the created situation, more than 4000 Artsakh residents lost their jobs and source of income. Employers cannot provide them with work.

Lachine Corridor is closed for exactly 6 weeks. The distribution of food with coupons started last Friday. This issue was also discussed at today’s session. Considering the process of system implementation as generally positive, State Minister Ruben Vardanyan instructed to summarize and present the problems that emerged during the process.
