“Laoram” – at the initiative of the Jewish Agency, the stories of the men and women who acted bravely on October 7th will be distributed to the Jewish communities around the world and will be at the center of Hanukkah events in the Diaspora. The chairman of the Jewish Agency Major General Doron Almog: “Their actions give us all hope and we must remember and defend them forever.”

There is no home in Israel that has not heard of the men and women who acted bravely on 7.10. Now, the stories will be distributed to every Jewish home in the world, in the transcontinental Hanukkah project of the Jewish Agency called “Laoram”. 8 stories of heroism, against 8 Hanukkah candles, will be lit on 6 continents, in 6 different languages - Hebrew, English, French, Spanish, Russian and Portuguese.

As part of the project, hundreds of missions and emissaries of the Jewish Agency around the world, during the eight days of Hanukkah, will hold events in the Jewish communities – on campuses, in schools, in youth movements, synagogues and community centers. Every day the messengers will tell the people of the community the story of a hero or heroine who bravely stood up to Hamas terrorists, and will light the candles to his or her light.

The candles that will be lit during the events of the apostles in the Jewish communities were produced at the Menorah factory in Sderot and distributed in North America.

At the same time as commemorating the stories of heroism, members of the Jewish communities will be able to contribute to the rehabilitation of the families affected by the terrorist attack by Hamas through the fund for victims of terrorism of the Jewish Agency, which accompanies the families with immediate emergency grants and during the rehabilitation campaign.

The stories that will be immortalized as part of the project:

– The late Neta Epstein, who jumped on the grenade in Kfar Gaza and thereby saved his partner Iran.

– Rachel Adri, she and her husband were held hostage in their home in Ofakim and thanks to their composure managed to escape.

– Oz Davidian, who rescued dozens of young men and women from the bad party and photographed them, risking his life.

– The late Ili Nachman, the late Matan Ekstein and the late Adir Masika, and their friend Sela Maagan, who managed to confront terrorists and thus save their friends.

– The late Amer Abu Sabila, a 25-year-old man from Abu Talul in the Bedouin diaspora, who managed to save the young daughters of the Sweisa family in Sderot and was murdered.

– The late Shlomo Ron, one of the founders of Kibbutz Nahal Oz, who saved his family who were hiding in MMD after he falsely presented to the terrorists that he was alone at home.

– Avital Eljem, who was kidnapped to Gaza while she was holding the children of her murdered neighbor. After the terrorists released her in the field, she returned to Israel – while protecting the children.

– Shir Azoulai, a resident of Kibbutz Holit who managed to save the life of her neighbor under fire who was caught in a burning fire pit.

The members of the Jewish community and the messengers will have the opportunity to connect to the project personally, and to bring up more stories about Ness that they know first hand. Thus, for example, messengers of the Jewish Agency whose family lives in Otef and those whose family members were kidnapped and released will tell their stories and commemorate their heroism.

The stories selected as part of the project concern the entire civil society in Israel – Jews and Arabs, women and men, young and old. The goal is to illuminate the menorahs all over the world with the light of the heroes, because a little light repels a lot of darkness.

At the same time as the lighting of the candles, the stories will be distributed on the social networks of the Jewish Agency in Israel and around the world, to allow every Jewish home in the world to take part in the project.
