Maria Rozanova, publisher of Syntax, has died

On Wednesday, December 13, it became known that Maria Rozanova, publisher of the emigrant magazine Syntax, widow of writer and dissident Andrei Sinyavsky, died at the age of 93. Writer Dmitry Bykov reported this.

Maria Rozanova was born on December 27, 1929 in Vitebsk. She graduated from the art history department of Moscow State University. She worked at the Literary Museum, was engaged in architectural restoration, taught in the studio of the Mossovet Theater, worked as a tour guide, taught at VGIK, at the Abramtsevo Art School. Published in the magazine “Decorative Arts” USSR”. She was a famous jeweler.

In 1973, together with her husband, writer Andrei Sinyavsky, she left the USSR. From 1977 to 1997 – publisher and co-editor, and later editor-in-chief of the journal “Syntax”. Lived in the suburbs of Paris. She hosted the program “We Are Abroad” on Radio Liberty.
