Criminal complaint against French soldiers in the Israeli army

Member of Parliament from the socialist France Unyielding (LFI) Party in France Thomas Portes filed a criminal complaint against 4,185 French citizens in the Israeli army, on the grounds that they were “complicit in crimes against humanity and war crimes in Gaza”.

According to AAı, Thomas Portes, in his statement on his social media account, drew attention to the extent of the crimes committed by the Israeli army against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank.

Portes stated that he filed a criminal complaint with the prosecutor’s office against French soldiers fighting in Gaza and the West Bank.

Portes, who also shared the criminal complaint petition he sent to the prosecutor’s office, noted that there are 4,185 French citizen soldiers operating in the Israeli army in the region.

Thomas Portes reminded that 1 percent of the people of Gaza, 70 percent of whom were women and children, have been killed since October 7, and emphasized that civilians in Gaza were forcibly displaced.

Portes reminded that in the last two months, many international law experts and human rights organizations described the massacres in the region as “war crimes”, “crimes against humanity” or “genocide”.

Stating that there is strong evidence that crimes against humanity and war crimes are being committed in Gaza, Portes argued that the French soldiers stationed in Gaza were “complicit” in these crimes and therefore they should be brought to justice.

Portes pointed out that the French justice is obliged to investigate the responsibility of the French officers in the region for their actions against international and French law.
