The surprising announcement in a shopping mall in the Netherlands: “Stop funding the genocide in Gaza”
At the beginning of last week, a pro-Palestinian demonstration took place in one of the largest shopping centers in Amsterdam, De Bijenkorf. The announcement, which was heard throughout the mall, called for the boycott of brands such as Dior, Chanel, L’Oreal and Puma, claiming that they are complicit in the genocide that Israel is committing in Gaza.”Dear shoppers, welcome to the Bijenkorf mall. During the Christmas season, we invite you to stop shopping while the bombs fall,” the announcement said, while confetti was scattered around the mall to simulate the bombings.

“Over 20,000 people in Gaza have been killed funded by your tax dollars. When you buy brands like L’Oreal, Chanel and Dior, you make sure that Israel can continue its genocide of the Palestinians. While you were looking for the perfect gift, Israel killed six children every hour, sick children every hour 8,000 children were killed in the last two and a half months.”

“Show your solidarity with the oppressed people of Palestine. Educate yourself about the genocide. Talk to your friends about the occupation. Christmas is cancelled. Throw away your shopping bags and boycott the brands that cause the Israeli genocide of Palestinians. Boycott L’Oreal, boycott Dior, boycott Chanel, boycott Puma. From river to sea, Palestine will be free.”

Also, the brochures that fell over the shoppers read: “This is how the oppressive Israeli army informs the Gazans of their imminent death by dropping papers over their heads.”

Earlier this month, the name of the fashion chain Zara hit the headlines, after its advertisement with images that simulated the scenes from Gaza succeeded in angering the pro-Palestinian supporters – and led to demonstrations around its branches.
