The grandson of an Israeli killed in a terrorist attack at the Munich Olympics was beaten in Berlin

In Berlin, 30-year-old Israeli Lahav Shapira was beaten by an Arab student. The incident occurred on Friday, February 2, but only today the name of the victim became known.

According to Israeli media reports, the incident occurred in a bar in Berlin’s Mitte quarter. The attacker recognized Shapira as a participant in rallies for the release of Israeli hostages.

After witnesses intervened, the attacker fled before police arrived.

Lahav Shapira was taken to the hospital with a broken nose, a fractured orbital socket and a fractured zygomatic bone.

The Israeli publication Ynet wrote that Shapira later identified the attacker, who turned out to be a student at the Free University of Berlin. The hooligan was detained by the police.

Lahav Shapira is the grandson of Amitsur Shapira, an Israeli sprinter and long jumper who died in the Munich Olympics bombing.
