Loot of millions transferred to Turkey: Raid in Berlin for fraud in Berlin test centers

A gang is said to be in Berlin with several corona test stations, false accounting and fraud stole millions from the state – on Thursday, the public prosecutor’s office and the police raided it. In the morning, the investigators searched several test stations, apartments and late night shops throughout the city.

Arrest warrants have been issued against the alleged head of the gang, a 46-year-old Turkish citizen, and his 44-year-old sister. They are under strong suspicion of having formed a gang together with other suspects.
The gang members are said to have operated 18 test centers in the city from May 2021 to February 2022 and billed the Berlin Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians for more than nine million euros for corona tests that were not carried out at all.

They are being investigated on suspicion of gang and commercial accounting fraud.

In this case, there are also connections abroad, where more than half of the loot of millions ended up.

According to the investigators, a total of six million euros of the nine million euros that were paid to the gang were transferred to Turkey – to the accounts of other suspects.
