Disaster in the USA: a bridge collapsed after a ship hit, cars fell into the water | Watch
Fear of a mass casualty event in Baltimore, after a cargo ship hit the bridge and caused it to collapse. According to reports, at least ten cars fell into the water, at least 20 people are listed as missing. The serious accident occurred around 1:30 tonight (between Monday and Tuesday), when a cargo ship carrying the Singaporean flag, which left Baltimore on its way to Sri Lanka, collided with the Francis Scott Key Bridge that passes over the Patapsco River on the outskirts of the Port of Baltimore.

Footage from the scene showed parts of the bridge collapsing and according to reports at least ten vehicles fell into the water. The authorities announced a fear of a mass casualty incident and large rescue forces were called to the area. The bridge, opened in 1977 and named after the author of the US national anthem, spans 1.6 miles and is part of Interstate 695 in Maryland. It has four lanes and is crossed by more than 11 million vehicles a year.
