Russian fleet exercises in the Gulf of Aden: “attacks” of unmanned boats were successfully repulsed

The press service of the Russian Navy reported that a detachment of ships of the Pacific Fleet, consisting of the missile cruiser Varyag and the frigate Marshal Shaposhnikov, conducted exercises in the Gulf of Aden.

“At the initial stage of the exercise, the crews of the detachment’s ships worked out an algorithm for joint actions to destroy several unmanned boats (U.S.) and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) of a mock enemy,” the press service reports.

During the exercises, firing in sectors, Russian warships successfully repelled the “attacks”, destroying all training targets – both air and surface.

The Pacific Fleet detachment also worked against pirates. According to the scenario, a signal was received from a merchant ship that was under attack. Russian sailors came to his aid and successfully repelled the pirate attack.
