Spain intends to recognize the state of Palestine in the near future

Spain intends to officially recognize the state of Palestine in the near future, before the coming summer. During his official visit to the Middle East, Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez told reporters accompanying him last Monday.

He announced that he will apply to the Spanish Parliament with the proposal to recognize the state of Palestine.

The leaders of Spain, Ireland, Slovenia and Malta recently adopted a joint statement on the intention to recognize the state of Palestine.

The statement states that the only way to achieve lasting and stable peace in the region is the “two-state” solution, where Israel and Palestine will live side by side in peace and security.
