Major alarm in the Australian city of Sydney! A man is said to have stabbed several people in the Westfield shopping center (Bondi district). The Sydney Morning Herald newspaper now reports four deaths.
New South Wales police have only confirmed that one man had been shot. Loud “Daily Mail“It could be the perpetrator; he was killed by police officers.
Before that, dramatic scenes are said to have taken place in the building.
Eyewitness Hannah Bodrozic, who was shopping on Country Road with a friend, saw a group of around 20 young people fleeing via the escalators in the shopping center.
“There’s a man who stabs people!” one person shouted. Panic broke out: “We didn’t really know where to go. We tried to go back to the other building but there were people running in that direction,” Bodrozic told the Sydney Morning Herald.
The shop employees closed the shutters in the row of shops. “Then we heard three shots and everyone just started screaming,” says Hannah Bodrozic.
Police are currently searching the shopping center for additional attackers.
