One person was killed in Russian strikes on the Ukrainian Kharkiv region

One person was killed and three others were injured on Friday, during Russian bombing of the Kharkiv region in northeastern Ukraine, which Russia is increasingly targeting, Ukrainian police announced.

The police said on Telegram: “Three civilians were injured in the bombing, and a 65-year-old man was killed,” explaining that the strikes targeted the city of Vovchansk, the village of Munachinivka, as well as the Kubyansk region.

In addition, three people were injured in the eastern Donetsk region and two other people in the southern Kherson region, according to local authorities.

The Kharkiv region bordering Russia has been subjected to almost daily bombardment by the Russian army for several weeks, targeting energy facilities in particular, causing widespread power outages.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky visited newly dug defensive lines in the Kharkiv region earlier this week, where he stressed that the region must be “ready to defend itself” against the Russians.
