King Abdullah: “Jordan will not be the scene of an Iran-Israeli war”

King Abdullah II of Jordan, commander-in-chief of the armed forces of the Hashemite Kingdom, which on the night of April 14 took part in repelling the Iranian attack on Israel, said: he will not allow Jordanian territory to become an arena for war between Israel and Iran.

“Our main task is commitment to the sovereignty and security of our state. The purpose of our actions was not to protect Israel, but to ensure the safety of citizens,” the monarch said.

On the eve of the Iranian strike, Jordan announced the closure of its airspace. The authorities said they were ready to fight back anyone who crossed the border. The Jordanian Air Force has destroyed dozens of Iranian drones.

Publications appeared in the media reporting the existence of an alliance nicknamed the Middle East NATO. The bloc is said to include the US, UK, France, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the United Arab Emirates. Official representatives of Arab countries deny these reports.
