Columbia University: Israel has lost the place from which US presidents originate
Against the background of the stormy demonstrations against Israel at Columbia University, when, among other things, an Israeli professor was banned from entering the university grounds, there is concern that Israel has lost support for the important institution, which grows the future leaders of the United States.Over the years, three presidents of the United States have graduated from the ranks of Columbia University: Theodore Roosevelt and his relative Franklin Delano Roosevelt, as well as Barack Obama.

Also among the university’s graduates are key figures such as Alexander Hamilton – one of the founding fathers of the United States, Madeleine Albright – Secretary of State during the Clinton administration, the groundbreaking Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg and businessman Warren Buffett.

As a reminder, Columbia University set a deadline today (Wednesday) for the evacuation of the pro-Palestinian protest camps by 8:00 am (New York time) and stated that if they are not vacated, it will consider other alternatives for evacuations. According to reports from the scene, the protestors began to move their tents to another lawn on campus and the negotiations between the parties continued.

Omer Lovton Garnot, a graduate student at Columbia University for public policy and a researcher at the Institute for Global Politics, commented: “It’s a mess here, it’s really a beautiful place, very unfortunate. The semester is about to end, it will be interesting to see how the year opens, a little unclear what’s going to happen in the coming days. The president of the university went to a hearing in Congress, and they took the opportunity to set up a tent at the university and barricade themselves there, and do the horrible demonstrations you see on the networks, to threaten Israeli and Jewish students who hang out there and to succumb to anti-Semitism and hatred.”
