“Following approval of the national security supplement that the President has just signed into law, the Department of Defense has announced significant new security assistance to urgently meet Ukraine’s critical security and defense needs,” reads a statement released by the Pentagon. .

As detailed by the US Administration, this new package includes air defense missiles, artillery shells, armored vehicles and anti-tank weapons, as well as ammunition and lighter weapons so that Ukraine can reinforce its defensive lines, protect its cities and confront attacks. Russians.

“With bipartisan support from Congress, Ukraine can count on strong and determined U.S. leadership to provide ongoing security support — along with some 50 allies and partners — to ensure its brave defenders receive the critical capabilities needed. to fight Russian aggression,” the State Department has stressed.

President Biden ratified this Wednesday the bill that contemplates a multimillion-dollar military aid package valued at 90 billion euros that will largely go to Ukraine, which will receive about 57 billion euros. Israel will receive another 24 billion, while Taiwan will get another 7.5 billion euros.

Biden has signed his signature after the United States Senate approved this aid package last night with 79 votes in favor (48 Democrats and 31 Republicans) and 18 against (15 Republicans and three Democrats), thus putting an end to months of tense negotiations in the Republican ranks.
