A blow to ISIS: a series of arrests of the organization's operatives across Europe
The prosecution in Germany today (Wednesday) filed charges against seven citizens from Central Asia – five citizens of Tajikistan and two citizens of Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan – for establishing an Islamic terrorist cell with the aim of carrying out attacks on behalf of the ISIS-Khorsan branch organization. The defendants were arrested in raids in Germany in July last year and have been held in custody since then.According to the lawsuit, the defendants had known each other for a long time and had a “shared radical Islamic attitude.” They came from Ukraine to Germany after the outbreak of war last year and made contact with another suspect who is on trial in the Netherlands for setting up a terrorist cell in order to carry out ISIS-style attacks in Germany “or elsewhere in Western Europe”. They were also in contact with other ISIS-Khorsan operatives who are abroad.

The prosecution also stated that the defendants gathered intelligence on various targets and also tried to purchase weapons and find donors to finance the attacks, but “there was no concrete attack plan” when they were arrested. In addition, six of the detainees are accused of collecting funds for ISIS and transferring thousands of euros to ISIS elements abroad.

We will move to France. The anti-terrorism authorities in the country arrested a 16-year-old boy, who stated that he wanted to “die with his hand” in a suicide attack on behalf of ISIS during the Olympic Games in Paris this summer. He is suspected of the crime of “participating in a criminal association with the intention of organizing crimes that cause injury.”

According to the reports, the boy from the Aute-Savoie province in the southeast of the country was arrested today after he published posts on Telegram yesterday expressing his desire to obtain components to assemble an explosive belt in order to “die with his hand in the name of the Islamic Caliphate”, when he wanted to carry out the attack in the La Défense area of Paris during the Olympics. A search of his belongings revealed his oath of allegiance to the ISIS organization.
