A camp of pro-Palestine protesters was dismantled and almost 100 people were arrested this Saturday morning (27) on a campus of Northeastern University, in Boston, in the United States, according to the institution.

“What began as a student protest two days ago was infiltrated by professional organizers with no connection to Northeastern University,” the university said in a statement posted on the social network X.

“Last night, the use of violent anti-Semitic insults, including ‘kill the Jews,’ crossed the line. We cannot tolerate this kind of hate on our campus.”

“As part of the evacuation, almost 100 people were detained by the police. Students who presented their Northeastern University identification document were released (…) Those who refused to prove their affiliation were detained,” stated the university center.

Students detained on campus will be subject to “disciplinary procedures”, but “not legal measures”, according to the university statement.

Last week, demonstrations in support of Palestinians and against the war waged by Israel in the Gaza Strip spread across several university campuses in the United States, after a mobilization began at Columbia University in New York.

According to the AFP news agency, the rectory of Columbia University, the epicenter of the movement, announced that it had given up appealing to the New York Police (NYPD) to empty the camp installed on its campus, but stated that one of the movement’s leaders was banned from enter the university area.
