New York subway passenger with two giant pythons around his neck

A passenger on the New York subway brought two enormous snakes into the carriage full of commuters. The video, posted on TikTok, went viral, with more than half a million views in just a few hours. A young African American sat among the others as if nothing had happened, holding a specimen of Burmese rock python and a royal python entwined around his neck.

The two snakes moved under the eyes of the other passengers, some of whom pretended nothing had happened, while a woman had a frightened expression. A person nearby continued to hear her music in headphones. If the images confirm how New Yorkers are generally used to everything, it is not the first time that a snake has made its appearance on a train of the most famous subway in the world. In 2018, then-New York governor Andrew Cuomo was forced to declare a state of emergency after a video showed a snake moving along a handrail and then crouching at the end of a train car. The passenger who had shot the images said that the reptile’s owner had given the snake a kiss and then let it move along the train.
