The International Court of Justice in The Hague has rejected the claim against Germany for “Palestinian genocide”

The International Court of Justice in The Hague rejected on Tuesday, April 30, Nicaragua’s lawsuit against Germany, accusing Germany of involvement in the “genocide of the Palestinians.” The court did not satisfy the demands to stop German military assistance and arms supplies to Israel.

The court heard the parties’ arguments in early April. “This concerns the lives and well-being of thousands of people, this is the destruction of an entire people. Germany does not fulfill its obligations to prevent genocide and ensure international law,” said Nicaraguan Ambassador to the Netherlands Carlos José Arguelo Gomez, who heads the Nicaraguan delegation.

“If Israel continues to act with the same permissiveness with which it has acted since the founding of the state, with the help of states like Germany, future generations of Palestinians will rise up against this,” the diplomat said, dispelling doubts that, in fact, They are trying to put the Jewish state in the dock.

Representatives of Germany previously expressed confidence that the lawsuit would fall apart. “The reason why Israel’s security is a key factor in our foreign policy is our history. Germany provides assistance to Israel, but in Nicaragua’s claim its extent is significantly exaggerated,” said Tanja von Uslar-Gleichen, a member of the German delegation.

“The data on the supply of artillery shells and other ammunition is in no way connected with reality. Germany continues to provide humanitarian assistance to the residents of the sector, despite difficult conditions. We cannot be accused of turning our backs on the Palestinians,” added another German representative, Christian Tams.
