Hamas leader Ismail Haniyya spent more than 12 days in Turkey: the Arab world is thinking

The head of the Hamas Politburo, Ismail Haniyya, has already spent more than 12 days in Turkey, and at this stage it is unknown how long this visit will last, given the precarious position of the Hamas leadership in the world and the possible expulsion of the organization’s leaders from Qatar. The Arab world is wondering why such a long visit is connected.

The Saudi newspaper Al-Sharq al-Awsat expresses speculation about the possibility of moving Hamas headquarters from Doha to Ankara – assumptions that are refuted by Hamas itself, whose leaders claim that they do not plan to leave Qatar, and by the Turkish government, whose foreign minister said that Turkey does not intend to accept the leadership of Hamas permanently.

Haniyeh, during his long stay in Turkey, holds a series of meetings with Turkish politicians and officials, but the duration of his visit and the still unclear timing of his return lead to certain assumptions.

Let us recall that earlier Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that at the moment the option of moving the Hamas leadership abroad to Turkey in the event of its expulsion from Qatar is not being considered.

The senior Jordanian source also stressed that Jordan would under no circumstances accept Hamas leaders if they were forced to leave Qatar.

The statement was made in response to the words of Musa Abu Marzouk, a member of the Politburo of the terrorist organization Hamas, who said the day before that if senior Hamas representatives were forced to leave Qatar, they would move to Jordan.
