North Macedonia's ruling party admitted its election defeat, power passes to the right – Foreign countries

Opposition candidate Gordana Siljanovska-Davkova is the next president of North Macedonia.

in North Macedonia the ruling SDSM party has conceded defeat in both the second round of the presidential election and the parliamentary election. The leader of the center-left SDSM congratulated the right-wing main opposition party on its election victory late Wednesday.

It seems that a right-wing leader will become prime minister Christian Mickoski. The more ceremonial post of president goes to the same party Gordana Siljanovska-Davkovallewho is a lawyer and professor by background.

The right-wing party VMRO-DPMNE, which is coming to power, opposes the concessions that Bulgaria has demanded before the country would agree to start EU membership talks with North Macedonia. In his speeches, Mickoski has also criticized Greece and the country’s own Albanian minority.
