Dessau-Roßlau: Two-meter constrictor snake gone in residential area! | Regional

Dessau-Roßlau (Saxony-Anhalt) – All they found was her skin!

Emergency services from the fire department and public order office are looking for a huge boa constrictor in a residential area in Dessau-Roßlau.

The dangerous constrictor snake is said to be crawling around freely somewhere – residents are in fear.

Nobody in the area has ever seen the animal. The only clue is a two-meter-long snake skin that may have been dropped in the stairwell of a new building. The striking red-brown pattern on it indicates the so-called king snake.

Neighbors interviewed, basement searched

As the “Mitteldeutsche Zeitung” reported, the authorities had been on alert since Sunday. “When a find like this occurs, a large contingent of course goes out to look for the possible animal,” explained city spokesman Ralf Student.

But until Tuesday she could Boa cannot be found. Even the residents of Viethstrasse, where the skin was found, were asked about their neighbors. Apparently no one knew about illegal keeping of snakes in their house. According to the authorities, none was officially reported.

Die Fire department had initially looked for the animal in the building and in the cellars. A thermal imaging camera was also used. But no boa in the area snaked its way in front of the lens.

There is now even speculation as to whether someone might have made a bad joke. However, getting a real snake skin is not that easy.

The boa constrictor is originally native to South America and can grow up to three meters long. With its powerful muscles it kills its prey – like rabbits – by entangling and strangling it. In order to be able to keep such an exotic animal at home, you need… Saxony-Anhalt approval from an official veterinarian.
