The Lazio Regional Administrative Court accepts the appeal of ‘Pace Terra Dignità’ by Michele Santoro for the north-west constituency. Following this ruling, ‘Pace Terra Dignità’, which had to collect 15 thousand signatures in each constituency, will be present throughout Italy.
The Regional Administrative Court for Lazio (Section Second Bis), definitively ruling on the appeal – we read in today’s sentence – ousts the Ministry of the Interior and accepts the request for annulment of the contested documents, thus ordering the admission of the recurring ‘Peace Earth Dignity’ list in the elections for the renewal of the European Parliament called for 8 and 9 June 2024. The electoral offices at the Court of Appeal of Milan and at the Cassation had justified the exclusion for irregularity of signatures collected in Val d’Aosta.
The TAR motivates its decision as follows: “In the present case, the authenticating person’s possession of the qualification of regional councilor is documented by an act existing prior to the collection of signatures, with a certain date as it has been registered (without any dispute on the point) and this circumstance was duly deduced and proven by the presenters of the list in the phase pursuant to art. 22 of Presidential Decree 361/1957, therefore the Office was wrong in excluding the list of today’s applicants due to the lack of indication of the person’s qualification as regional councilor. of the authenticator the signatures relating to Val d’Aosta, taking into account the absence of further complaints or exceptions raised by the Office regarding the list presented, the appeal is accepted, with the annulment of the contested documents. and admission of the list to the electoral consultation for which it is due”.
