Egypt asks Hamas and Israel to show “flexibility” to reach “as quickly as possible” a truce in the fighting in Gaza associated with the release of the hostages. This was announced in a press release from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. During a telephone conversation with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Choukri underlined “the importance of urging the parties to demonstrate flexibility and make all necessary efforts to reach a truce agreement and thus put end to the humanitarian tragedy”.

Egypt believes that the negotiations in Cairo, which this week did not lead to a truce agreement, are currently in “a delicate phase”, we read in a note which reiterates that “the dangers” of an operation Israeli attack in Rafah, a Gaza town located on its border, would threaten “the stability and security” of the region, Egyptian diplomacy continues.
