LGBT community Copenhagen Pride has lost its sponsors, demanding that they “take a stand on Israel”

Copenhagen Pride, which represents the Danish capital’s LGBT community, faced serious financial difficulties after its leadership expressed solidarity with the Palestinian people in February this year and demanded that its sponsors “take a position on the conflict between Israel and the Gaza Strip.”

Leading sponsors of the organization, such as Novo Nordisk, Google, Maersk, Dansk Industri, KPMG, Nykredit have canceled sponsorship contracts, a number of other sponsors, including Danske Bank, Tivoli, Novozymes, DFDS, are in no hurry to write new checks, expressing dissatisfaction with the excessive politicization of Copenhagen Pride.

In fact, the organization lost about half of the funding it needed to stage this year’s Copenhagen Pride Parade.

Against this background, the head and political leader of the organization, Lars Hendrickson, announced that he was resigning.
