Burbok and Bayramov discussed the differences of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace

The Foreign Ministers of Germany and Azerbaijan, Analena Berbock and Jeyhun Bayramov, discussed the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan in a telephone conversation held on Friday.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, “the ministers discussed the current relations and prospects between Baku and Berlin, the situation in the South Caucasus, as well as the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia.”

According to the report, Bayramov told Burbock the details of the meeting with Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on May 10-11 in Almaty.

“Bayramov and Berbok discussed the differences (between Azerbaijan and Armenia) within the framework of the peace process, emphasizing the need to continue the negotiations. The ministers also discussed the issue of Armenian-Azerbaijani border demarcation, within the framework of which Armenia returned 4 villages to the control of Azerbaijan,” the message states.

  • Before the meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan in Kazakhstan, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan expressed hope that after these negotiations there will be progress on key issues with Baku.
  • The President of the National Assembly touched upon the negotiations the other day, stating that there is still no agreement on two important issues for Yerevan: enshrining the Alma-Ata Declaration clause in the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty and the principles of de-encirclement of the region.
